My Creative Process

1

The Beginning

To kick things off, I dive into understanding the project scope and objectives. This involves clarifying any assumptions with the client, conducting user interviews, sending out surveys, and pinpointing the main focus areas. Early conversations with the dev team are crucial to ensure everyone is on the same page.

2

Conceptualisation

While waiting for research data, I start collecting inspiration from everywhere—quantity over quality at this stage. Once the research data is in and core focus areas are identified, I begin brainstorming. Techniques like mind mapping, Crazy 8’s, sketching, and paper prototypes are my go-tos. Testing these early concepts with clients, stakeholders, and users helps gather valuable feedback right from the start.

3

Using the Crayons

Here’s where the fun begins. I design meaningful solutions for the complex design problem at hand. This phase includes creating high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes. Usability testing sessions follow to gather feedback. If the findings suggest, it’s back to the drawing board for refinements.

4

Refine the Design

With user feedback in hand, I make the necessary adjustments to ensure the best user experience. This step also involves preparing the design files, assets, and documentation for the dev handover.

5

The Solution is Born

I dedicate time to work closely with the dev team to ensure everything is built as intended. Post-launch, I conduct a thorough review to gather feedback and learn for future projects.

Physically Writing To-Dos on Paper vs Digital To-Dos as a UX/UI Designer

Despite trying loads of digital to-do lists, I find that writing tasks on paper remains the most effective way to stay productive and focused throughout the workday.
